DC MOTORCYCLES ANNUAL CHARITY RIDE OUT, SUNDAY 19th August, 2007
A big thank you and well done to everybody that took part in the Charity Ride-out to Devils bridge at Kirby Longsdale. The final total was £1050.00 split between two very deserving charities - The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Headway. It was a great success and despite the weather, bikers turned out in aid of two very good causes.
This year we choose two charities close to all bikers hearts, The Yorkshire Air Ambulance - who operate a lifesaving rapid response helicopter service across Yorkshire and Headway - Set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury.
60 bikes turned up at 9.30am for bacon sandwiches and everybody left in convoy at 10.30am with the first stop at the Flapitts at Denholme. After a short break every body continued up to Devils bridge for a well deserved 'cuppa'.
The riders returned back to DC Motorcycles in the afternoon for well deserved Drinks, food and music. The fundraising continued throughout the evening with collections for the two charities and raffle.
All types of bikes turned up for the event from learners to superbikes and quads to a motorbike and sidecar.
One of the highlights of the day was been able to transport Russell Curran, 42, up to Devils Bridge in a sidecar thanks to Frij, Russell, who had a motorcycle accident over twenty years ago, now confined to a wheelchair and is a regular member at the Huddersfield Headway group, thoroughly enjoying the day reliving his passion for motorcycles.
Headway Huddersfield were absolutely delighted with the donation, saying it was the single largest donation they have ever had.
Once again, thank you to everybody who took part in the event and to those that donated raffle prizes.
We will be arranging various other ride-out's next year, so please keep calling back to the news pages for details.
